May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. I'm delighted to participate in the events planned for our communities by offering the most requested workshop I have presented to private corporations and not-for-profit organizations entitled:
                                    "APPROACHING YOUR OWN MINDSET"
We all make decisions, approach problems, and handle disappointments based upon the way we think. What we believe about our ability to be flexible and adapt (or not) is what researcher Carol S. Dweck at Stanford has determined to be our 'mindset'. That means we either have a "Fixed Mindset" where we believe that we are limited and unchangeable, or a "Growth Mindset" where we believe our basic abilities are a starting point and learning and intelligence can grow. Because each of us has adopted a mindset tendency, we inevitably bring those healthy or toxic beliefs and behaviors to our work places, relationships, homes, places of worship, and schools. Unmanaged anxiety, depression, stalled careers, parenting frustrations, divorce, health problems, financial woes, poor grades in school, high conflict relationships, negativity, untapped potential, immaturity and low self worth are potential indicators of a problem with our thought life. It is possible to create a life with purpose, achievement, and satisfaction.
